A profound, philosophical adventure unravels as two brothers, each raised by different believes and circumstances, suddenly find themselves about to lose their lives. Surrounded by a dangerous situation, our protagonist actually ends up dying, only to realize that this process isn’t necessarily what he had previously imagined it was.

All of a sudden, our protagonist finds himself within this unfamiliar place, oblivious to the chain of events which brought him to fulfill this part of his destiny. In due time, he recalls the terrible situation that led him to experience his own death, realizing he now walks across a small section of the afterlife.

Feeling the need to go back, for there is danger still surrounding those who were closest to him, he must play against several experts in the game of Runica; this, in order to—perhaps—have a chance to save his brother’s life. Only in this way he shall be able to change his destiny, preventing further misfortune to be cast upon many.

Find your way back; by learning the ways of Runica, you will solve the dilemma of your own dissolution, healing upon the process of knowing who we are. Exposing the edges of our nature, the story touches upon philosophical, psychological, and spiritual concepts so as to converge upon an epic adventure.

  • 4 types of mechanics: use a pendulum, a compass, an hourglass, or a balance to unlock valuable items, improving upon your strategies.

  • Matches testing different aspects of the game-mechanics, considering all levels of difficulty throughout the experience

  • Transitions during moves: A rune may, for instance, morph into a different shape in order to execute a certain action.

  • So far, single player is the only game-mode contemplated

There are many visual improvements planned for the future. Adding foliage, extra areas, and luminous NPCs walking across the scene are a few of our next steps; modeling dozens of runes triggering glowing effects and more! Since most characters reside in their spiritual form, we are considering a luminous shader, bringing light to certain sections with different colors (bearing in mind Lumen)

Another planned feature is to create areas within the entire map where sounds and harmonies will manifest sporadically, at times allowing the player to listen to a melody interpreted by a bassoon or a clarinet, mixing in the process with the atmospheric sounds.

As these and further elements converge, a dynamic experience where you find stronger runes, cards and dices is combined with the elements of the story, the interactive dialogues, and the challenges brought upon by the strategic elements of the game of Runica.
